Customer Privacy Notice

1. What we collect

When you book a rental: name, email, phone (if given), rental date and start time, duration, boats or gear rented, party details, waiver acceptance (including date, time, and version), and order history. Payment card details are entered with Stripe and are not stored by us. Stripe may save your card for damage or loss charges under the rental waiver. When you browse: basic technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed. When you contact us: your message and contact details.

2. How we use it

To fulfill self-serve rentals, send booking confirmations and combination-lock codes for equipment access, handle reschedules, cancellations, and refunds, send day-of safety or weather updates, process damage or loss charges with notice as described in the rental waiver, prevent fraud, meet legal duties, and improve the site. We send marketing email only if you sign up or opt in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

3. Who we share it with

Service providers that help us operate bookings and rentals, only as needed: Big Cartel (online store and checkout), Stripe (payments), Netlify (website hosting), and Google (email and booking records). We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Cookies

The site uses only cookies and similar technology needed for the cart, checkout, and security.

5. Retention

We keep booking and waiver records as long as needed for taxes, accounting, and disputes (generally 7 years), and other data only as long as needed for the purposes above.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and unsubscribe from marketing at any time, by emailing tim@madelineadventures.com. Residents of some states have additional rights; we will honor valid requests as the law requires.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including booking records and equipment access codes, but no system is perfectly secure.

8. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Bookings must be made by an adult age 18 or older.

9. Changes

We will post updates here with a new effective date.
